Getting a Rush County Marriage License
Both people getting married must go to the Rush County Courthouse in Rushville at the same time. You cannot complete the application by phone, mail, or with only one person present. Under IC 31-11-4-3, both applicants must appear before the clerk. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. A driver's license, passport, state photo ID, or military card all meet the requirement. Each person must also provide their Social Security number. This is required to complete and correctly file the license.
Indiana does not have a waiting period. You can hold your ceremony the same day you pick up the Rush County marriage license. The license is valid for 60 days under IC 31-11-4-10. If you don't use it before then, it expires and you must reapply. No blood test is required in Indiana. You must be at least 18 to apply without parental consent under IC 31-11-1-4.
