If the license runs out before the wedding, you have to apply all over again and pay again.

The Indiana Courts pre-application at courts.in.gov/marriage lets couples fill out some details online ahead of time. This does not replace the in-person visit, but it can cut down on the time you spend at the clerk's office when you arrive in Sullivan.

You do not need to bring your Social Security card, just the number itself.

If either person was previously married, that prior marriage must be legally ended. Bring a certified copy of the divorce decree or a death certificate. The Sullivan County Clerk will check this document. If you cannot provide it, the clerk cannot issue your marriage license. Age requirements apply under IC 31-11-1-4. You must be 18 to apply on your own. Applicants who are 16 or 17 need a parent or legal guardian to come with them and give consent in writing. Indiana does not allow marriage licenses for anyone under 16.
